Welcome to the Finance Department
The Finance Department is responsible for the internal financial operations of the City of Piedmont. This work includes accounts payable and receivable, payroll, investment of city funds and, most importantly, preparation of the annual budget under the direction of the City Administrator.
On or before May 15, the Finance Director presents the draft budget to the City Council. To encourage public participation in the budget process, a budget meeting schedule is prepared by the Finance Director. Typically, City Council meets on one Saturday in May to review each department's requests for funding and holds two public hearings on the first and third Mondays of June to allow further public comment.
A citizens committee is appointed each year to review the need for major capital expenditures such as construction projects, sidewalk repair, and maintenance of city buildings. Residents may suggest projects for the capital budget by completing a Capital Improvement Project Request Form. Contact the department for more information.
The city's charter requires that a balanced budget must be adopted on or before June 30. The Annual Budgets page includes downloadable copies of the proposed and approved budgets for the current and previous fiscal years.
Additional information regarding the summary budget, revenue, expenditures, and salaries for city employees is also provided within this website.
