Ambulance billing

A valuable benefit the Piedmont Fire Department provides is 24/7 response to medical emergencies with an ambulance staffed with two Firefighter/Paramedics.

To help offset the cost of this service, if you are transported by a Piedmont Fire Department ambulance you or your insurance company will receive a bill. Who pays that bill differs for residents and non-residents.

Residents

If you are a resident, Piedmont Fire only collects payment for an ambulance transport from your insurance company.

After they are billed, your insurance company may send you a document called an explanation of benefits. This may show a balance, but you are not responsible for paying it.

If you believe you got a bill by mistake or have questions, call Wittman Enterprises at (800) 906-6552.

Non-residents

If you are not a resident, typically your insurance company will cover a portion of the bill and you are responsible for any amount they don’t cover. When you receive a bill for an ambulance transport by the Piedmont Fire Department, you can pay your bill online.

If you have questions about your ambulance bill, contact the company we work with to manage our medical billing, Wittman Enterprises at (800) 906-6552. Their customer service is open Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 4:30 pm.
