Lifeguard I

  • Pay: starting at $19.50/hr, with annual raises up to $22/hr

What your shifts look like

Rotate through positions that keep the day moving: lap swim, lessons, family swim, team practices.

You'll:

  • scan zones
  • prevent accidents
  • respond when needed
  • support programs and events

Training and rescue practices are frequently incorporated into shifts.

Schedules & Pay

  • Flexible shifts that fit around school, college, or other work
  • Most guards work 5-15 hours/week, with the option to go up to 20
  • Starting pay: Lifeguard I: $19.50/hr (w/annual raises up to $22/hr) | Lifeguard II: $21/hr (w/annual raises up to $26/hr)

Requirements (quick check)

  • Certification: American Red Cross Lifeguard with CPR/First Aid/AED. Title 22 within 6 months of hire.
  • Age/Education:
    • Lifeguard I: 15+ and completed 9th grade (work permit if under 18)
    • Lifeguard II: HS diploma/HGED or 250+ hours lifeguarding
